How does unlocking a PDF work?

Our free tool removes the password protection from your PDF – exclusively in your browser. You need the file’s password: it opens the file and re-saves it without protection. There is no upload and no bypassing of the protection.

Why is the password required?

Password encryption is designed to prevent exactly what you might be trying to do: opening the file without permission. Our tool works by the rules – it unlocks the file only with the known password. Without it, removing the protection is technically impossible, and we do not offer any method to work around it.
